Digital Recruitment Service
I led the design of the Judicial Appointments Commission's new digital recruitment service. My work included service mapping, user research, service design, prototyping, and creating a prioritisation framework. The project delivered a more efficient, reliable, and user-centred recruitment process, enabling the JAC to save over £500,000 and process over 2,500 applications in the first year.
The challenge
The JAC needed to replace their existing recruitment service with a more efficient, reliable, and user-friendly digital solution. The main challenge was to understand the complexities of the existing service and the needs of both end-users and service staff to design a truly transformative service.
My role
I worked as part of a multidisciplinary team. My responsibilities included:
- Mapping the existing recruitment service
- Leading user research to identify problems and opportunities from the perspective of end-users and service staff
- Leading the design of the new digital service
- Developing prototypes and leading user research during the alpha and beta phases to validate design assumptions
- Creating a prioritisation framework to manage the delivery backlog for the new service
Impact
- In the first year of service alone, the JAC saved over half a million pounds
- The new system received and processed over 2,500 applications in the first year
